Hi all,

Luella moved back to her nursing home yesterday afternoon. She is happy to be there in her new automatic chair that Ruth just got for her. All is well!

Grandma is doing well. She sat up in a chair most of the day yesterday. She had pain with standing, but otherwise comfortable. There is no reason why she couldn't be discharged back to her nursing home and we are hopeful that will be by the end of the week. She has her cell phone and been chatting with people yesterday. If you call her keep in mind she is taking pain medication. She is quite humerus on narcotics. If you would like to talk with her her cell phone is 913-439-9060.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Love, Eve

She made it through surgery without any problem. She is in recovery now and doing well.

Hi all,

The cardiologist has cleared Grandma for surgery stating the benefit of surgery outweighs the risk. She is scheduled for 1pm today.

Her spirit is good, but she is more emotional today and nervous about not coming out of surgery. She had a running list of people she would want to tell good-bye. I had the chaplain here see her and the pastors at Mid America Nazarene have been notified.

She also told me she is anxious to see Grandpa and Dad in heaven if that is God's plan.

Thank you for your prayers. She is worried about everyone else's contentment but I am worried about hers.

Thanks Ron. She is doing remarkably well. She is tentatively schedules for surgery Sunday morning at 9:30, but the nurse thought that was very optimistic of the orthopedist considering her heart issues and needing to be cleared by cardiology. I will know more tomorrow morning and will relay info as it comes available.

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately I am writing with some bad news. Grandma fell in her bathroom this afternoon, tripping over a scale and landing on her right hip. Tim is working tonight in the ER and has just diagnosed her with a right hip fracture (intertrochanteric). This will need surgery to properly heal. She is doing well and very comfortable with a little bit of Morphine. She said she wasn't surprised at the diagnosis.

She will be admitted under her primary care physician, Dr. Chartrand, who I am sure will have to consult her cardiologist to get her cleared for surgery. This will obviously take time and I do not anticipate her having surgery until sometime tomorrow. Dr. Bohn is the orthopedist on-call that most likely will be doing her surgery. He is known as "the hip specialist" for the hospital.

I do not know what room she will be admitted to, but if you would like to talk to her later this evening or tomorrow you can call Olathe Medical Center at 913-791-4200 and ask for her room. I do not know if she has her cell phone with her but that number is: 913-439-9060.

As many of you may know a hip fracture at the age of 94 is not a good thing. Very few make a full recovery so she will need lots of prayers to get through this massive ordeal. Please pass this on to any family members you don't see listed. Ruth is currently in Chicago this weekend and will be coming home as soon as possible. I will be working at the ER at 8am tomorrow. I will check in on her as I'm able.

I will keep you posted,
